What do these seals mean? Candid (formerly known as Guidestar) lists public information on every nonprofit registered with the IRS. Their mission is to revolutionize philanthropy by providing information that advances transparency, enables users to make educated donor-giving decisions, and encourages charitable giving. For a nonprofit to earn a seal, Candid considers several metrics – finances, goals, program information, strategies, capabilities, achievements, progress indicators, people involved, and the difference the nonprofit is making. Four levels of transparency seals can be awarded, starting with Bronze, Silver, Gold, and then Platinum.
